What is a brushcutter used for?
A brushcutter is a powerful handheld tool designed for cutting and clearing vegetation that is impractical for a lawn mower to manage. Whilst they are normally used with nylon cord heads, many can also be fitted with sturdy metal blades which can easily slice through tough brambles, woody plants and thick weeds, which other tools might struggle to handle. In addition to heavy duty clearing, brushcutters are also useful for lawn care, particularly in trimming high grass and brushwood in areas that are hard to reach with a regular lawn mower, such as along fences, around trees or on steep slopes. Will a brushcutter cut brambles?

What safety precautions should you take when using a brushcutter?
When using a brushcutter, follow these safety tips. Always wear protective gear like safety glasses, a helmet, ear protection, gloves and steel-toed boots. Choose close-fitting clothing to avoid injuries from debris and chemicals.
Before you start, check the brushcutter and read the manual to understand its operation. Keep an eye on your surroundings, keep the cutting head low, and stop the engine if anyone approaches. Turn off the engine and let the blades stop before making any adjustments, and use gloves to protect your hands. Take regular breaks to manage fatigue from noise and vibrations.
